Welcome to Year 5 - Sycamore Class

The adults who work in class are Mrs Whiteside and Mrs Mongan.

Mrs Whiteside will teach Monday to Thursday and Mrs Woolfall will teach every Friday.

PE is every Friday. Children must come to school in their PE kits.

Homework will be set each week online (Purplemash, Edshed and Rollama) and a weekly sheet.

Spellings will be set weekly with a test on a Friday. These will be sent home on a sheet and also accessed on EdShed.

We will continue to test and develop our times tables skills with weekly tests on a Friday. we are having a huge push on learning our multiplications, the inverse operations and quick arithmetic.

Reading daily is essential in Year 5 and children can earn Reading raffle tickets for reading at home. Children must show us they have read at home and can complete their diary independently as well.

Thank you

Leighton Hall

On Wednesday 25th September we went to Leighton Hall. As part of our curriculum the children ae learning about seasonality, where our food comes from, food miles and how the climate affects what we can grow.

On the visit we will explored the fruit and vegetables in Leighton’s kitchen garden, learnt where real food comes from and how we grow it. We then went on a supervised foraging walk, discovering the delights of edibles and how to avoid non-edibles, before returning to Leighton’s outdoor kitchen to turn our bounty into delicious freshly pressed apple juice and caramel apples on the camp fire.
